WOMAN ATLANTIC FLYER
WOULD NOT CROSS AGAIN ARRIVAL AT LONDON NO FAITH IN MASCOTS. GOOD MECHANIC PREFERRED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 2.25 p.m. to-day. LONDON, May 22. Mrs Amelia Earhart Putman arrived at Hanworth Aerodrome in a heavy downpour. She was showered with congratulations on her flight across the Atlantic. She emphatically declares she will not fly the Atlantic again. She shows little trace of fatigue. When interviewed in the evening she wore a tango coloured frock borrowed from Mr. A. W. Mellon’s daughter. She said her first task would be to visit the West End Stores. She was not | returning to Ireland but should hate to leave her “dear aeroplane.” She expected to have it brought to England where she is flying before returning to the United States. After her husband had telephoned Mrs. Putman said she was remaining in Europe till June 10. She would make a. flight again if it would mean any sort of advance but not merely for the sake of doing it. She did not believe in mascots, but pinned her faith on a real good mechanic.
