FOOD, CLOTHING AND SHELTER
ASSISTANCE FOR UNEMPLOYED. LABOUR MEMBERS’ APPEAL. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 23. A statement on the unemployment situation was isued to-day by Messrs. C. H. Cha'pman, R. McKeen, W. Nash and R. Semple, Labour members or Parliament. They assert that all wiling to work should have food, fuel, clothing and shelter while they are available, that vandalism cannot be too strongly condemned, that shopkeepers who have had their windows damaged should be reimbursed with the cost of replacement and that the Government should every week pay to willing relief workers sufficient to purchase food, fuel and clothing to keep them in their homes. They promise that Labour Party members of Parliament will undertake to co-operate with the Government in measures to provide adequate food, fuel, clothing and shelter for unemployed.
