BIRTHDAY EARNING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Thursday evening a large gathering assembled in the Nor man by Town Hall in honour of the twenty-first birthday of Miss-Dorothy Antrobus. The hail had been tastefully decorated with streamers and flowers, and with the many bright dresses of the dancers a charming effect was produced. Displayed on a table on the stage was a host of beautiful presents, a testimony to the esteem and many friendships gained by the guest of honour. Mr G. Galloway, on behalf of the assembly, spoke of Miss Antrobus’ value to the community and said that she was an indefatigable worker for many public objects. In presenting her with the array of presents, Mr. Galloway wished Miss Antrobus _ all future prosperity and hoped she miglit long continue her good work. On behalf of Miss Antrobus, Mr. I'each thanked all for their goodwill. The cake, which reposed- on a table in the centre of the hall, was cut during the rendering of musical honours. Music for dancing was played by Miss May Cadman. Masters A. and L. Cadman were encored for a duet in costume. Among those present were: The Guest, floral georgette. Mesdames E. T. Grant, blue frilled lace with bridge coat; D. Crutch, green spotted rayon; E. Crutch, black woollen costume; L. Domibrosld, orange satin and net; L. Norfolk, blue floral voile ; V. Magill; mouse crepe de chine ; I. Cane, figured velvet; F. Antrobus, black satin: H. Franklyn, black floral ninon; M. Cadman, blue tweed. EUCHRE PARTY. On Friday night there was another large attendance at the second of the Tennis Club’s series of euchre parties for the points pride. Twenty-one tables were engaged for play and, the winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Barribalk (13 games), Mrs. *G. Grantham (72 games), consolation. Miss Bishop : men, Messrs E. Nuku 1, K. Arnold 2 (following a play-off in which Mr. D. Hamilton also participated each having won 12 games), consolation, Mr. T. Lloyd. The prizes were donated by Messrs A. H. Hills, AY. T. Hair, G Gray don and C. Franklyn.
