BUSHMAN LOSES LEG

CRUSHED BY FALLING TREE. AUCKLAND, May 19. Crushed beneath a fallen tree on Tuesday, Mr. Peter McGuire, aged 60, a bushman engaged at Arahiwi, between Mctmaku and Hotorua, received severe injuries, which later liecessitated the amputation of his right leg. Mr. McGuire was felling a tree and was unable to get clear in time before it crashed on to him. He was wedged beneath the heavy trunk and Ins comrades had difficulty in extricating him.
