RAIN DELAYS MATCHES. PROGRESS RESULTS. Heavy rain in Hawora this morning delayed all matches in the South Taranaki croquet, tournament and progress was made in the respective events only between showers. At mid-day rain fell steadily' and there was a prospect of play being abandoned until Monday. Both the Hawera and Park Clubs’ greens were in good order early this morning, but gradually became heavier. Results in addition to those already published were as follow: B GRADE SINGLES. South Taranaki Championship. Third round, first life. —-Mrs. Cooper won by default from Mrs. Horner; Miss Putt heat Mrs. Peacock. 26—7. Semi-finals, first life.—Miss Putt beat Mrs. Carter 26 —20; Miss Beale beat/- Mrs. Cooper, 26—17. Third round, second life.—Mrs. Horner beat Miss Washer. 26—22: Miss Beale heat Mrs. Williams, 26—-T9. The first life final will he played between Miss Beale and Miss Putt. 111 the second life Mrs. Horner plays Miss Beale in the final, the winner in turn to play the finalist in first life games. HANDICAP DOUBLES. Third round. —Mesdames Penny and Hollis (11) beat Mrs. Carter and Miss Putt (14). 23—22. Mesdames Penny' and Hollis will play Mesdames McKay- and Horner in the final. CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Second round.—Mrs. Masters and A. J. Gibbs beat Mrs. Dawson and F. L. Harrison, 26 —6. Mrs. Masters and Gibbs will play Mrs. McKay and J. M. Clague in the final. OPEN SINGLES.
