BIG IRRIGATION SCHEME
AREA OF 40,000 ACRES. SOUTH CANTERBURY PLAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Feb. 19. An important scheme for the irrigation of 40,000 acres of the Waimate County in South Canterbury is to be investigated by Public Works Department at tbe request of the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. J. G. Coates. The district public works engineers at Dunedin (Mr Ball) and Christchurch (Mr F. Langbein) are to inspect the area and report on a scheme within the next few days.
