FAT CATTLE CHEAPER. RATES AT BURNSIDE. (By Telegrapn —Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Feb. 17. Fat cattle again sold at cheaper rates at Burnside to-day, but the sheep market was firm. The fat cattle entry included several pens of prime bullocks and a large number ot light steers, which sold at a reduction of 10s a head as compared with the rates at the previous .sale. Gown and betters also sold at reduced rates, bringing from £3 to £6. Prime ox beef was worth —is, per 1001 b, plain beef 20s, cows and heifers Ids to 17s 6d. The chief consignments of prime bullocks came from Waik-ou-aiti and sold to £lO, which was the top price for this class. Medium bullocks sold to £7 2s 6d, medium heifers £5 10s, light cow’s £4 2s 6d, heavy cows £5 7s 6d. A line of extra heavy bullocks sold at £lO 2s 6d, extra heavy cows £7 17s 6d. In the fat sheep section prune wethers were in short supply, and the Quality was not equal to that offered at the previous sale. The bulk of the yarding consisted of medium quality ewes. Opening prices were on a par with those realised last week. As the sale progressed wethers sold at an advance of about 2s a head. Prime eves brought to 10s and wethers 18s a head. Prices obtained for ewes were equivalent to nboitt lid a lb, and about 3jd for wethers. The store cattle offered were not outstanding as regards quality, and the bidding was not very brisk. Cows sold from £1 10s to £3 10s, light bullocks £3 to £5. The pig entry was equal to the last yarding "as regardts numbers, but prices were a shade easier. The best prices realised were £3 for baconers and £2 for porkers. These prices represented about 4d a lb for bacon pigs and 5-J-d for porkers.
