OFFER IN CANTERBURY. CBy Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Feb. 19. Mr J. Connolly, M.P., has offered to launch a scheme providing for the tree use of Cheviot Hills homestead, with a suitable area, for a farm scliooL tor lads who have just left school or a little older. The scheme has been taken up by a conference of Christchurch residents, and it is intended to form local committees at Ashburton and alsewhere to further .the project. The bouse will accommodate fully oU boys. The scheme in the meantime is independent of Government- support or control.
