PATEA BRANCH MEETS

The monthly meeting of the Patea. bran oil of the 'Plunket Society was hold on Friday night, Mrs T. E.. Roberts presiding, others present being Mesdames Macken, Roots, Nelson, Pettigrew, H&ddow, Smiles, Stevens, Hunger, Ingley, Row and L. Honeyfield (secretary). Apologies for non-attend-ance were received from Mesdnmes Harris and Pauling.

NURSE’S REPORT.

Nurse Horrell reported as follows: Rabies on books, 42; other children, 40; total, 82; new cases for July, mothers 2, babies 2, others 3, total 7 ; visits to office', 7 days, adults. 77, babies 66, children 18, total 161; visits to homes, former cases 33, new cases 6, total 39; visits to sub-stations, 16 days, with 2 special visits to Waitotara; visits to rooms, adults 102, babies 89, children 11, total 202; sales of Kariol, etc., £ll 16s 6d. During the month one mother and baby were sent to the StewartKarita.ne Home, Wanganui. A talk was given to the Church of England Girls’ Club on the normal Giild, good nutrition, and what it means.

Mr E. F. Warren wrote stating that lie appreciated the honour conferred on Rim bv the Patea committee in electing him a life member of the society. The Central Council - also wrote on the matter, requesting that the committee place the words “Sole Executor of the estate of the late Hunter Shaw” be added after Air Warren’s name.

Reports on several matters wore made by the secretary, who stated that the baby’s crib for demonstration purposes was complete. Nurse Horrell having done the necessary sewing. The president moved that the rooms be open during the Patea jubilee week to the public as a rest room, and the resolution was carried unanimously. The secretary was instructed to write to the jubilee committee 1 , informing them of this offer, and also that d~ni' : ing this time there would be demonstrations along Plunket lines of diet, clothing, etc. Silver paper donations had been received from the following, who- were accorded the thanks of the committed: Russel 1 .aiig.slow. P. Findlay, J. and B. Close, H. and W. Hickey, T. and M. i- Booker (Rnngikura). Waste of silver paper, the president said, was very general, and a- great deal of assistance could be given to the society by the children of the district by collecting the disused silver paper.
