WESTFIELD SALE. FAT SHEEP FIRMER. (By Telegraph—Tresa Association.) ' AUCKLAND, March 4. There was an entry of approximately lot) head of cattle at Westfield fat stock sale to-day—well down on that of last week, 'the offering comprised several pens of prize bullocks and heifers from the recent Auckland show. Choice prime young ox beef made up to 26s per lOUlb, average ox making around 235. Choice quality heifer beef made almost as much as good ox, selling up to 25s per 1001 b, but the average price for good butchers' cows ranged round 20s per 1001 b. Gamier cows made down to 12s' per 1001 b. The ton price for steers was secured for a line of show cattle which made from £9 os to £l2. Prize heifers made up to £9 10s and heavy prune station steers from £9 os to £lO 17s 6d. , , The calf market continued depressed. with prices on the low levels of the previous week. There was a big entry of station calves carrying jgood condition, and these sold from 35s to 455. ■ . The yarding of fat sheep was the smallest for some weeks. Prices showed a. slight improvement. Good qualitv butchers’ wethers made 11s to 13s. well-finished prime ewes 6s to 7s 6(1. . . The market for fat lambs showed practically no change, well-finished prime sorts bringing the equivalent of from 44 d to 41 d a- lb. A short vnrding of fat pigs met a verv keen sale, porkers particularly selling on the highest levels for several weeks. Baconers realised around 4>,1 a lb, but porkers made up to 5d a lb and even more in .some instances.

STOCK AT BURNSIDE:. VALUES SLIGHTLY FIRMER. DUNEDIN, March 4. Values at the Burnside sale to-day were slightly firm compared with those ruling last week. There was a Might advance in the number of fat cattle penned, but the quality generally was not good, the proportion of prime bullocks being small. The market (pencil with values firmer by 10s a head loan those ruling at last week’s, tsale, but as the sale progressed values eased somewhat, the market closing with prices oil a par with last week’s. Elxtra prune heavy bullocks sold to £ls 12s 6d; prime heavies, £ll 10s to £l3 10s; medium, £9 10s to £ll, and light £7 to £9. Extra prime oows and heifers brought up to £9 7s 6d; prime, £6 to £8: and lighter sorts £4 to £5 10s. There was a lighter entry of fat sheep, 1860 penned against 2300 the previous week. At the close wethers were firmer than at last sale by Is 6d a head, while ewes were'firmer by fully 2s. Extra prime heavy wethers sold to 15s 9d; prime, 11s Cd to 14s; medium to' 11s; and lighter sorts to 8s 6d, Extra prime ewes sold to 10s; prime to 7s; aud medium to light to 4s. Although the quality of the lambs penned was lower than that ruling at previous sales, the demand wa,s keener and prices firmed by Is a head. Extra prime heavy lambs sold to 17s Id; prime to 14s 6d; medium to lies 6d, and light to 9s 6d. Dairv cattle met with a fair demand. A medium entry of pigs met with a dragging sale, values being easier by 5s a head.

ADDINGTON YARDING S. STORE SHEEP DULL. CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. There was a better sale for store lambs at Addington market to-day, but the store sheep sale was a dull one. Store Lambs.—Five thousand three hundred were offered. Prices advanced Is a head. Good rape lambs sold to 9s lOd, ordinary' rape Jambs 7s to 9s, small and backward 2s to 6s, medium ewe lambs to 8s 7d, -backward owe lambs to,ss 9d.

Store Sheep.—Eleven thousand were entered. A slow sale, values unchanged. Extra good ewes made 14s 6d to los 6d, good to 11s 9d, ordinary four and six-tooth ewes 7s to 10s, ordinary two-tooth half bred ew r es 10s 6d to 11s 9d, ordinary two-tooth crossbred ewes to 8s 6‘d, four and six-tooth 6s to 7s 6d, six and eight-tooth 5s 6(1 to 7s 6d, sound mouth 3s 6d to 4s 9d, backward sound mouth to 3s, aged inferior ewes 8d to 2s, good Romney cross wethers to 10s lOcl, ordinary to 8s 7d, backward 3,s 9d to ss. Fat Lambs. —An entry of 3200 head. 'The jiale was firm at kite rates. Prime sold to 17s Id; medium 13s to 14s 6d, light 10s 6d to 12s 6d, stores 7s fjd to 10s.

Fat Sheep.—An entry of 4560. The ■sale was a dull one. with no quotable change in values. Show wethers 10s 10(1, _ prime heavy wethers 15s to 16s, medium 13s to 14s 6d, second quality, Ob to 12s 6d, light 6s to 8s 6d, prime owes 10s to 11s 7d, medium 8s to 9s 6d, light 5s 6d to 7s 6d, aged 3s 6d to OS.
