The cause of this oxtaordinavy measure was the determination of the Communists to collect their followers at Bern an from fill the surrounding country for a great anti-religious and antiCh list in as demonstration. The gathering was forbidden, but the “Reds’’ apparently intended to defy tlm prohibition. . , As the local police was quite inadequate to deal with organised Communist recalcitrance a strong force was sen t to the town, from Potsdam.
