BOGUS PERMIT USED
CHINESE FINED £IOO. DEPORTATION ORDERED. (By Telegraph—Fresa Association.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 21. The maximum sentence has been imposed on a Chinese gardener. Ah Louie, 3b years of age, for entering New Zealand without a permit. The Collector of Customs said that All Louie-was not bis correct name.. He arrived under another name in 1020 and left after nine months for China and returned to the Dominion with the papers of the real Ah Louie, who had died on the way to China. He had substituted Ah _ Louie’s photo and thumb prints by ibis own and so gained admission. The collector asked for a heavy penalty. Tlie magistrate (Mr Woodward): This is a .sort of thing which must he stopped. , , - A fine of £IOO, or 12 months’ imprisonment, was entered and an order was made for deportation.
