Rur.OND VIOLENT EXPLOSION THIRTY-ONE LIVES LOST. < I ’nit—.l Ur-*- Association—By RW'Hr Telegraph C-opvright ) BERLIN, Feb. 22. Another disastrous firedamp explosion in the Aachen coalfield killed 31 miners. Pit props were smashed to matchwood, and men in the vicinity mutilated beyond recognition.
According to an earlier messa_ge 31 were killed by a firedamp explosion in a reserve pit at Northberg, near Eschweiler. Fourteen, of whom four are in a serious condition, were sent to hospital suffering from gas poisoning.
