MARINES TO WITHDRAW

Acceptance by .President Mooacla 01 Nicaragua of a deßnitc ‘plan substantially to reduce the marine forces m Nicaragua by .Tunc and to pave the wav for complete withdrawal after the elections nest year was announced? by the Secretary (Mr. Stimson). _ The marines to he withdrawn m Juno arc those on combat duty against insurgents numbering about 800. Inc remaining marines wfil be stationed in Managua. The withdrawal is linked with tho plan to increase by 000 the Nicaraguan national guards which will wage a vigorous campaign against bandit forces. The guard will then number 0000 The plan covers provision to pay for the increase in the Nicaraguan national guard.
