Tilden and Hunter, being proiessionals,are not ranked. Among /the wonutyi Mrs. Ll A. Harper (Oakland) is ranked first because of Airs. Moody’s failure to compete in the major American tournaments. Miss Helen Jacobs also- is not ranked. The remaining women are Alissste Marjorie Morrill, Dorothy tYeisel. Virginia Milleary, Josephine Cruiekshank, Ftliel Burkliardt, Airs. The United States Lawn Tennis Association, with only two or three dissenting voices, adopted a motion favouring an open tennis tournament, but referred the matter to the executive committee with power to act. The association recorded its disapproval of Hie practice of a number of '.dubs in allowing prominent players unlimited expense accounts while competing in club tournaments.
