NEW ZEALAND COAL
USE TN GAS-MAKING. (By Telegraph —Association.) PALMERSTON N., Feb. 14 In connection with the l appeal made by Mr. Kimbell (Under-Secretary of Mines) to gas managers to ponder seriously before ordering coal from Australia, the municipal gasworks- manager states that on the average 90 per cent, of New Zealand coal was used in the local gasworks during the Newcastle coal strike. The Palmerston North works used 100 per cent, of New Zealand coal for six months.
