EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
ELTH'AM COUNTY DECISIONS. The question of earthquake relief was mentioned at the meeting of the Eli ham County Council on Saturday by the chairman (Cr. A. L, Campbell), who urged that more should he given to the Red Cross and other societies who were doing excellent work. He said this was necessary to meet the expense, of helping to keep refugees. Cr. Carter agreed .and said that if the council agreed to give some should go to the Red Cross in Hawera. The chairman said he did not see the necessity of opening a subscription list at the comity office. It was decided not to open a list and also to leave the matter to the individual councilors.
