AMMON RA WINS STAKES VERTIGERN IN PAUL MEMORIAL STEWARDS TO CONSENT (By Telegraph—Special to ‘‘The Star.") NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 14. Mild summery weather, with only a 1 ift.hr breeze stirring the tings, ruled for the opening of the concluding programme of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. Though light rain preceded the first event, indications were for favourable conditions. The attendance was again good and the tracks were in fast order. For careless riding in the Hurdles, and causing interference with Tenacre and Denier, L. Jarvis, who rode Omeo, was suspended for a month. Following are the opening results: —

Going into the back, Tenaere moved up, with Royal Acre in the lead, but made a bad jump at the half-mile, where the order was Royal Acre, Tenacre and Full Mark in a bunch, with a big gap to (Goblin Market. Royal Acre led Tenaere and Full Mark at the home bend, with nothing else close, but finishing fast, Full Mark won by two lengths from Royal Acre, with Tenaere four lengths back, followed by Goblin Market, Omeo, Democratic, and Denier. Potoleer was first to show out from Monalof, Gasnapper, Statuary, .Toyspear, and Ban bridge. Entering the back stretch, Potoleer piloted Rich Harvest, 'Monalof, Gasnapper, Banbridge, Statuary, and .Toyspear, but. at the half-mile Rich Harvest was leading Potoleer, with Monalof still third and Statuary well back. Potoleer led on to the home turn from Rich Harvest, Banbridge, Statuary, and Monalof, and in a crowding finish, the favourite came from the half-distance to beat Monalof by a head, with Little Doubt only a neck back third. Banbridge was fourth, with Gasnapper, Potoleer and Toyspear close up. Time, 1.50.

Consent led out of the barrier from Melissa and Gold Dawn, but at the end of a furlong Malayan led Gold Dawn and Consent, with a gap to Eidgemount. Malayan and Gold Dawn together were two lengths clear of Consent and Eidgemount at the three furlongs. Malayan had a slight advantage from Gold Dawn at the home turn, but when the test came Consent shot up to win easily by two lengths from Malayan, with a long neck to ridgemount and Gold Dawn last.
