DESERTED FROM SHIP
APPEARANCE IN COURT. (By TeWraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. Charged with deserting from tbe Turakina on February 6 of last year. Charles Herbert Brogjen. who was only arrested the other day in Taiha.pe, was convicted and ordered to pay any expenses and to forfeit any wages that might- have been due to him from the ship. He was also charged with the theft of cutlery, valued at 265, from an hotel in Feilding, where he was employed as a cook. For this he was fined £2 and given a, week to pay, in default seven days’ gaol.
