A largely attended meeting was held at the residence of Mrs. Douglass on Thursday, to inaugurate a branch of the Women’s Institute. Miss Stops. Dominion organiser, addressed the ladies present on the aims and objects of the institute and exhibited specimens of work done by various branches in England. Her address was listened to with rapt attention and as a result of her efforts a. branch was formed.

The following committee was elected : President. Mrs. Douglass; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. Lambic; secretary, Mrs. Clements; treasurer, Mrs Mahon, and Mrs. Burke, with power to add. It was decided that meetings be held on the first Wednesday of each month at the residences of members, two ladies to act as hostesses on each occasion.
