SYDNEY SPORTSMAN’S DEATH
FATAL ILLNESS ON VOYAGE. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copy right. > SYDNEY, Jan. 9. Boarding the Marama a week ago after a holiday in New Zealand, the well-known Sydney bookmaker, Mr A. V. Whitta became ill. It is understood no doctor was aboard the vessel, which speeded up and reached Sydney on Tuesday, two hours before the schedule time. The patient was taken in an ambulance to hospital where he died to-day, peritonitis supervening on appendicitis.
