A foreoast of the course of unemployment in Britain was offered to the Royal Commission on unemployment insurance by Mr, A. W. Lady, a high official of the Ministry at Luhom. lie said that if trade began to improve when the number of persons unemployed stood at 2,400,000 there mis no reason to suppose the register would fall below about 1,800,000 during the first 12 months.
