LOSS OF 15,000 DOLLARS

Copyright.) Received 1 p.m. to-day. NEW YORK, Jan. 8. Mrs. Lita Grey Chaplin and M. Georges Carpentier made representations to the police to-day that they were kidnapped by bandits and robbed of 15,000 dollars worth of valuables and jewels. Both are playing in a local variety theatre and after the performance were in the lady’s limousine when foui gangsters entered the car and drove it off. They stripped her of jewels, and then made Carpentier, Mrs. Chaplin and the latter's chauffeur get out. The bandits thereafter disappeared with the automobile, which, however, they soon abandoned.
