TOWN: BOARD MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Manaia Town Board was held last evening. Present: Crs. A. 11. Yarrow (chairman), H. Mead, V. Winter, W. H. Robinson, !L. C. Harrison. An apology for absence was received from Or. A. J. Christie. It; was resolved that Wednesday be the half-holiday for 'Manaia for the ensuing year.

Major Wyatt, of the Salvation Army, made an application for the board to make a remit of rent of the hall. It was resolved that the full amount be paid and to donate £l. The sanitary inspector reported one case of infectious disease during the month.

An application from Mr P. T. Hammonds for ordinary water service connection was granted. The foreman’s report was received and adopted, the main work for th' month being the maintenance of roads and footpaths.

Notification of the Local Bodies As. sociation on January 28 at Eltham to discuss the wages of local bodies employees was received. The question of grazing cows on the town roads was discussed at length and it was resolved that all owners of such animals must ensure registration at the board’s office.

The treasurer’s report for the month showed a credit of £327 3s lid. Rates outstanding for 192 ; 9-1'930 totalled £227 l‘3s 3d. Accounts passed for payment totalled £l'4S lCs 2d.

Mr P. Tarrant was appointed stock ranger for the town and Mr J. Brice (the foreman) was appointed as water inspector.
