EXTRA DISCOUNT SUGGESTED
POWER BOARD ACCOUNTS A suggestion was made to the South Taranaki Power Board by the chairman (Mr J. B. Alurdoch). last evening that in. view of the existing depression the board could grant a further 21 per cent, discount on accounts. This, he said, would l affect the board's revenue to the extent of £6OO or £7OO, but the extra discount would be appreciated, particularly by the farming community. Mr E. Long considered that on the majority of the board's accounts the extra discount, would be so small as to confer no material benefit on the consumer. ‘On the other hand the decrease in revenue to .the board (would be a considerable item. As the board had promised to make a material reduction in charges in May, when the Government bulk supply of power was to bo available, Air EL. A. Bone was of the opinion that any reductions should be left in abeyance until then. No action was taken.
