COXCEKT AND DANCE

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A concert and dance was held in the hall on Friday, December 12. The hall was beautifully,, decorated with coloured streamers and evergreens and was a credit to Mr Sinclair and an energetic band of helpers. It being the first children’s fancy dress dance ever held here, the parents had entered most willingly into the spirit of the function, and the children were a great credit to both teacher and parents. The following was the programme: Grand march; chorus, ‘‘Come to the Fair”; recitation, Alex. .Raet; dance, ‘•'l see you.”, infants: song, “Farmer,” Gordon Barnard and six little girls; recitation, five little primers; dance, “Sir Roger do Coverley”; recitation. Amy Kirk; song. “Roily. Wally.” and chorus; dance. “Toast to King Gustave.” seniors; recitation. Geoffrey Smith ; song. “Home, Sweet Home,” Dot Barnard; recitation. M. Pennington (encore); dance, “Pop goes the weasel” (all); pianoforte duet, Doris and Gladvs Kirk; dance, “Reaping the flax” (all); recitation, Doris Kirk; song, “Won’t you buy my pretty flowers:'” Eileen Jackson; song,, “Billy Boy," Lionel Pennington; j dance. “Norwegian” (ad); duet, “Where are you going, my pretty I maid?’’ Dot Barnard and L. Pennington: song, “Hear the echoes” (all); (lance, “Welcome,” seniors; recitation, “•‘Crossing the bar,” Mary Rae; song, Dot Barnard. Joan Pennington and F. Jackson; play, “Monday morning”' ; —"Aunt,”: Doris Kirk; “’Toni,” Lionel Pennington : “Syil,” Geoffrey 11ardwick-Smith ; “Fred,” Rex WoodIcy : chorus "Silver Lake”: “God Save the King.” i Then followed the prize giving.. Every -child having passed, all received a book, Doris Kirk gaining the dux. Mr 'l'. B. Crump presented the prizes. Costumes worn were as follows: F. Jackson (Duchess of Devonshire), E. Air Crump in a neat little sneech thanked Mr Sinclair, on behalf of the ','oinmitlec, for his untiring work in gelling the children up in the splendid iipmner they had performed. Mr Sinclaii suitably replied and made a small present to Miss Slater, who had kindly come out from Eltliam to olav for the children.

After simper, which w.vs supplied by the local ladies in their usual good etvle. the room was cleared for dancing. which was kept np t'll the small hours.- Airs Sait 1 , supplied the music and Alessrs F. Woodley and Brown acted as Al's.C.
