In the House of Representatives Mr. Crouch gave notice of his intention to move at the first suitable opportunity: I “That it is the opinion of this House that Canberra has failed as the I'ed--1 oral capital on the grounds of expense, geographical position anti general inconvenience, and that- a referendum with preferential voting be taken of the electors of the Commonwealth to decide whether the capital should be at Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney, and the consequential constitutional amendment be submitted later to the people. Mr Crouch’s motion was agreed to with “Hear, bear’s!” on both .sides oi tlie chamber.
