FAREWELL GIFTS. CHURCH PRESENTATIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Every seat was occupied in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Wednesday evening when, under the auspices of Manaia Methodist Church, a social was tendered to Sir. J. Nairn and family, who are shortly leaving the district. Rev. B. Dudley presided. A short programme of musical and elocutionary items was arranged, including a quartette party from Okaiawa. Addresses were given* by Messrs E. Wills, W. J. Brown, D. Sherson, S. J. Bennett, It. Gibson, and H. Berry, all speaking in eulogistic terms of the work in Manaia, in the church and outside, of the guests of the even-

The further gift of a fountain pen, in appreciation of his work as superintendent, was presented to Mr. Nairn from the children of the Sunday School, and Miss Joyce Brown presented Mrs. Nairn with a boquet. Mr. and Miss Nairn suitably replied At the last monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild, Mrs. Dudley (president), on behalf of the large number present and other contributors, presented Mrs. Nairn with a supper set and stand. Mrs. T. Johnson (secretary) also spoiTe, and others voiced their appreciation round the tea table afterwards. Mrs. Nairn returned thanks. MTks Wills sang two solos, accompanied by Miss Thelma Jones.
