DISASTROUS FIRE
ESTIMATED £20,000 DAMAGE
BLAZE AT AUCKLAND BRIGADES’ DIFFICULT TASK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Dee. 18. Damage estimated at over £20,000 was caused by a lire' in Broadway, Newmarket, this morning. . The fire arose in the premises or Hutchinson Bras., provision merchants, whose building was destroyed together with an adjoining block of Teed and Bulls in which the following, had business; Stormons, Bakers; H.J. Bull, ironmonger; Mrs. Rennie, ladies outfitter, David Teed, Ltd., chemists; Miss Grose, dressmaker; B. Beekerled, solicitor. and Doctor Frazeiliunst. The fire started ih a stoeroom containing paint and varnishes. A high wind was blowing. Teed and Bulls’ building was an old wooden one'. Firemen had great difficulty in saving other buildings in tiler vicinity and the city brigade was called in to help. . Insurances known are: Hutohmsons, building £5,6(10, stock £5,600, fittings £2,400; Teed and Bulls’ building £3825; Teed’s stock £2700; Bull’s stock, £2500; Rennie’s £335.
