HUGE FORTUNE CLAIMED

ESTATE OF £23,000,000. WELLINGTON MAN’S HOPES. (By Te)cg«.pii—tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 18. Confident that he will participate in the division of the Everingham millions, Mr. O. A. Everingham, an employee of the Wellington Harbour Board, has given details of the latest developments in a claim which a large number of descendants of Matthew James Everingham hope to lay next year to the estate in England held in trust and valued at £23,000,000. Mr. Everingham is one of the comparatively few direct descendants belonging to a family of 12, the remainder of whom live in New South Wales. They are the fourth generation direct. Mr. Everingham lias received an account from Australia of a meeting of about 450 claimants*to discuss information brought back from England by Mr. A. J. McGrath, of Paddington. Mr. McGrath,, who is also a direct descendant, told the meeting that it had been definitely established that the Restate held in trust was valued at £23,000,000. After about £8,000,000 had been paid in probate duties there would be about £15,000,000 available for distribution among descendants who are able to prove claims.
