Mr. J. B. Murdoch, of Hawera, left to-day on a visit to Wellington. Mr. F. Gillanders, of Hawera, was a passenger for Wellington by to-day’s express train. At this year’s metropolitan international grand opera at Covent Garden, Maestro Tulbio Serafin, the principal conductor at. the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, will take charge of the Italian work, states a British Official Wireless message. Herr Bruno Walter Robert Heger will conduct the German work. A .Sydney message, repeats that the term of office of the Agent-General in London for New -South Wales, Sir George Fuller, is to expire shortly. It is understood that Hon. A. C. Willis, vice-president of the Executive Council, will be Sir George’s successor. Mr H. I. Crocker, of Normanby, was taken ill last week and was operated on for appendicitis on Thursday in a private hospital. He is progressing favourably. Mr W. V. Parker, of Ararata, who suffered from an accident about two 'months ago on his farm, is still in hospital. Blood poisoning supervened, necessitating two operations. Ho is now improving and hopes to be out by Christmas.
