Lord Stonehaven has _ arrived at Glasgow. Inter viewed, he declared that no part of the Empire -was- -more loyal than Australia, which would probably recover from its difficulties more quickly than other countries.

COMMISSION OF INQUIRY
. CANBERRA, Nov. 28. The Commonwealth Statistician; Mr Wickens, has been appointed - as-a Royal Commissioner to inquire into the basic wage: for a man, his wife, and three children.
It was announced yesterday that the Government intended to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into questions; relating to the basic wage, embracing banking finance, and the national income, the productivity of Australia the distribution, of costs, trading and financial institutions, the effect of tariffs, and -bonuses, and the effect of varying exchange raxes on Australian monetary values.
LABOUR AT WORK
SYDNEY MEAT PROBLEM
SYDNEY, Nov., 28. . In the Legislative Assembly, the Supply Bill for £13,246 was passed. The Premier, Mr J. T. Lang, announced that the Government- was considering taking full control of the City Abattoirs and meat supply -for all time. The meat -strike is still unsettled. Ample supplies of fresh meat are being killed in the country, and axe reaching Sydney chiefly by road. Shop windows, also the windows of the private residences of-certain master butchers, have been smashed by stones by gangs of men in motor cars.
