CONVERSION AND THEFT

MOTOR RIDE SEQUEL. YOUTH GIVEN PROBATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. After journeying to Napier on a motor cycle two Wellington youths ran short of money and in order to get back to town they converted to their use a car which, however, ran out of petrol a few miles after they started. They tried to strike a bargain for petrol with some goods. This resulted in charges of theft in addition to conversion against one of them, Jack Mervyn Wiffen, who was given two years’ probation and ordered to pay expenses incm-red and keep hours to be fixed by the probation officer.
