The death is reported by cable from London of J. T. Tylclesley, the cricketer. Mr W. G. Walk ley, of Hawera, the secretary of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, has been appointed acting-secretary of the North Island Motor Union. Miss G. Lees, of Okaiawa, left today for Wellington and will proceed by the Maheno to-morrow t-o Melbourne, where she is to make an extended holiday visit. Mr D. W. McClurg, of Wellington, passed through Hawera yesterday on, his way to Auckland, and spent the afternoon with Mr and Mrs H. J. Finlav, of Tokaora. Sir Herbert. Stanley will take up his • new appointment as High Commissioner for Britain in South Africa next .April. The object of the appointment is to meet the .changed position of the Govern or j Ge,noral, says a 'British. 'Official Wireles's message. Lord Ivylsant has been, granted leave of absence by the court of ■directors of the Royal Mail ‘Steam Packet Company, also by the boards of its associated companies, states a British Official Wireless message. IHe will visit South Africa early in the New Year and will be a,way .several months. Mr Walter Runcinnan. has been appointed deputy chairman of the shipping .companies of which Lord Kylsant is chairman.
