UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD
WORKERS’ REPRESENTATIVE. (By Telegrapn—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct, 24. i A largely attended meeting of the Wellington Trades Council and District. Council of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour last night considered the question of the nomination of a workers’ representative on the Unemployment I Board. The following statement was issued to-day: “The meeting registered a protest against the procedure it is proposed to employ in this case for the appointment insofar as no provision is made for some sort of election in the event of there being more than the required number nominated. As the time allowed does not permit of any national coordination it will mean that the Alinister will have to choose the worker representatives from possibly a number of nominations and this is really the function of workers’ organisations. “The meeting by a. large majority carried a resolution to recommend to all its affiliations to nominate Messrs Bromley and Cornwell.”
