CAR MOUNTS PATH
PEDESTRIANS KNOCKED DOWN. MAN SEVERELY HURT. i tty 'telegraph—Press Association.; AUCKLAND, Oct. 24. One nian wa.s seriously injured, and a. woman and man hurt when a motor car crashed into a verandah post outside the shop of George Fowlds, Ltd', in Queen Street shortly alter six o’clock .o-night. All were pedestrians. A small child was thrown clear by his mother, his teddy bear falling in the path of the ear.
Severe injuries to the head were received by Stanley Fowler, married, aged -IS, of Mr. Eden. He was removed to Auckland Hospital. His condition is serious.
Mrs. K. Irving, of Poiiison'by Road, suffered minor cuts to the head and face and a severe shaking. After receiving medical attention she was able to go home. Her small son, aged about 5 yeans. escaped unhurt. Another man was bruised on the forehead and badly shaken. He was treated at an ambiilance station.

He turned out of Fort Street into hi ecu Street. Owing to a safety zone Irst above the corner room is restricted. and. in swerving to. avoid a pedestrian . the vehicle crashed into' the post aiid partially mounted the footpath'. Mils. Irving,, who was about to step off the pavement, picked up her child and threw him out of danger. None of those injured had time to jump clear and were knocked down. The post was practically severed, the bumper of the vehicle being wound round it. Hie car. although, damaged, wais driven away later.
