AIRSHIP CRASH INQUIRY

It was announced from Downing Street to-night that it is the desire of the Government and the Air Ministry that the inquiry into the loss of the R.IOI should be a public inquiry carried out by an independent court with full powers to take evidence on oath. They have approached Sir John Simon and he has consented to conduct the investigation. In addition Colonel Moore Brabazon, who used to sit in the House of Commons and took a great interest in air matters, and Professor Jnglis. professor of mechanism and applied mechanism at the Cambridge University, have been approached to act as assessors and assist Sir John Simon with their practical and technical knowledge during the inquiry. It is expected the court will have its first sitting; next week.
