GERMAN ENVOY
WELCOMED TO IRISH FREE STATE
LONDON. Sept. 1
Full military honours were accorded Herr von Dehn, the first German Minister and Envoy Extraordinary to the Irish Free State, when he drove through the streets of Dublin to present his credentials to the GovernorGeneral, Mr James McNeill, at the Vice-Regal Lodge. Herr von Dehn, addressing Mr McNeill, emphasised Germany’s profound satisfaction at the establishment of complete diplomatic relations. He said that for centuries Irish and German scholarship had been mutually productive of excellent results in many departments. Mr McNeill, in replying, paid a tribute to Herr von Dehn’s zeal and energy in connection with the River Shannon hydro-electric undertaking.
