BIENNIAL ELECTIONS

YESTERDAY’S POLL

Poll® were -taken at Norniaaby, Kaponga and Opunako yesterday for the election of the Town Board® for the coming period. Considerable interest was- shown at each centre. In spite of the inclement weather, a o-reat deal of interest was evinced in- The election, of the new Normanby Town Board- The following is the result of the poll: E. G. Harrison 80, E. J. Mcßetk 78, C. Ooxhead 75, T. Evans 74, E. T. Peach 67, A. Hurlienran 46. The first five mentioned were declared duly elected. All arc new members, but Mr Peach was a member some year® ago. The’ voting in the other .centres was as below: — Opunake. —A. Ravnor 1-96, A. J. Brendan- H 93, W. J. S.' Dudley T 72, W. E. Gunson 171, D. Mourie 170, F. Hammond 143, H. C. Smith 120, H. ■Mr X. -C. Innas was re-elected as Manaia town representative, on the South Taranaki Power Board, the voting being: N. C. Innes 109, A. H. 5 arrow 75.

At Opunake one of the sitting members Mr J. P. Burton, lost his seat. Mr A. .T. Brennan being elected at the top of the pofll. The voting was: A. J. Brennan IK>6, 0. O. Edmonds IT4, J. 11.I 1 . Burton 94.
