TRANSPORT CO-ORDINATION
ELIMINATION OF WASTE.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. A strong plea lor the introduction of n. Transport Bill this session was made to the Acting-Prime Minister, Ron E. A. Ransom, to-day by a deputation representing the Motor Unions’ Chamber of Commerce, the Motor Traders-’ Association, the, Master Carriers’ Association, the Motor Omnibus companies and motor service proprietors. Mr. A. B. Knight, representing the service proprietors, said they were satisfied that co-ordination of all transport was essential to, avoid waste, -reckless competition and an undue use of the highways. Proper legislation was necessary. Air.'Ransom, said the matter would! be, referred to Cabinet. It -had not been intended to bring, down a. Transport Bill this year as’the matter was regarded as a contentious one,. The present was a difficult time to bring down such legislation. /ATi-. Knight said it was not a party JUfetter. i»r. Ransom : AVe, do not regard it as that, but the Government must stand behind a Bill it brings down.
Another speaker urged Mr. Ransom to give a definite, reply, but he declined to do iso at that stage.
