A pen of 18 month to two-year-ohl steers made up to £8 3s 6d, another pen of yearling Shorthorn steers to £6. a line of two-year-old Jersey heifers £5 and! a line of good fresh eow.s £6 ss. There was a fair yarding of bulls, Urn best of which made £5 10,s. The offering of dairy cattle consisted of 45 head l of very average quality. Prices, lor the bulk of it showed an easing on last week’s rates, though those for the better class cows were firm. The top price was £ls os, which was l paid for a Jersey cow. There were few heifers forward. Values were: Extra good second and third calvers, £l4 to £ls ss. good cows £ll to £l3 10s. medium £8 to £9 15s. aged and in fen or £3 5s to £7 os, good heifers £8 to £lO. medium £6 to £7 10s, others £5 to £5 15s. There .was a medium-sized entry of porkers, and a small offering of baconcir.s. All sorts sold keenly, and the rates for porkers; showed a hardening tendency. Choppers also improved' a little in price. Values were: Porkers 55s to 63s 6d. heavy to 76s 6d (average price per lb. 94d to lOid), haooners 84s 6d to 96s Od. heavy to £5 13s 6d (average price per ll> 7-id to 8-J-d), choppers £3 10s to £8 13s 6d. PRICES AT WESTFIELD

AUCKLAND. Sept. 10.

Tile Westfield stock sale was held to-day. Ox beef was offered in larger numbers than last week. The quality was first-class and the demand good with the exception of that for extra heavy cattle, which were slightly easier in value. All other classes sold at full late rates. A consignment of 40 head of medium weight bullocks averaged £l3 19s 9d. Heavy prime steers realised £ls 2s Gd to £ls os, lighter prime £ll to £ls, light prime £l2 10s to £l3 7s (id. small and uniinishod £lO 10s to £l2 7s (id.

Cow and heifer beef again came forward in small numbers. Although the demand was not so keen as at the previous week’s market values generally were on a par. One truck of extra good quality heifers averaged £lO 18s (id. Heifers realised to £l4 10s. Extra heavy young cows and heifers realised £l3 2s Od to £l4 10s, heavy prime £l.l 10s to £l3, lighter prime £9 10s to £ll 7s 6d. other killable cows £6* os to £9 7s (id. Extra choice ox sold to 42s per 1001 b, choice and prime 39s to 41s. just killable 30s to 38s, prime young cow and heifer 38s to 40s, just killable 30s to 375.

The yarding of sheep was larger and as a consequence the previous week’s rise was not sustained. Heavy prime wethers realised 29s Od to 37s 3d, medium 28s to 29s 3d, light and unfinished 24s (id to 26s Od, heavy prime ewes 275, lighter 22s to 23s 9d, other ewes 19s to 21s 9d. A fair number of hoggets was yarded with the demand hardly as keen as last week. Heavy prime hoggets made 24s 3d to 25s 3d. medium 22s Gd to 22s 9d, light 20s Od to 21s Oil. others 16s 9d to 19s.

Fair numbers of calves were penned and sold steadily at about late rates. Runners brought £0 to £9 15s, heavy vealers £5 5s to £6 Os. medium £4 to £5. light £2 15s'to £3 15s, small 18s to £2 ss.

Fat pigs sold at fully last week’s rates, with keen demand for stores. Heavy baconers made £3 8s to £3 12s. medium £3 -Is to £3 7s, light £3 to £3 Bs, heavy porkers £2 15s to £2 18s. medium and light £2 4s to £2 Lis.
