‘‘Jazz is l out.” That is the verdict of the dancing instructors of the United States who are at a. conference in New York. A new dance, known a» “Jvl Sihonev,” thev say. is sweeping the country.' This dance is described as “sensational” when performed by experts, and depends for its charm on smooth rhvthm. Africa’s: jungle savages, according to the instructors, no longer influence modern dancing, their p'lace being, taken bv South America and Spain. The result is that the latest dances are “restful” and “harmonised” with the lon ft .skirts now worn in the even-j ingt. „ , What is more, these' new dances are to bring back romance to nations which have grown cynical about love. Tn the words of one' mstmctoi . Ihe madness' and restlessness of the war days are passing and the people want something, more satisfying.” Another languorous dance is the “Rumba.” which originated in Cuba.
