FLOUTING THE LAW
AN OBSTINATE WOMAN. Mrs Sarah Kay. who had been in Strangeways Prison. Manchester, for nearly- a year for failing to obey a Chancery Court order to furnish trust fund accounts, was released recently, and left the prison in a taxi. Mrs Kay was committed on June 13 last year, and an application for her release was made to Mr Justice Clauson on June 4 this year on the ground that she had brought forward accounts which, to the best of her ability, met the requirements of the case. Mr Justice Clauson said it was to*rible that the woman should be in prison for nearly a year, but what was to be clone if people would not do what they were ordered to do? The woman had flouted the court'. She had deliberately stayed in prison, and then caused .complaint to he made against the court. -
