CANADIAN PROPOSALS. CONFERENCE OF 2000 DOCTORS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright). WINNIPEG. Aug. 26. The Medical Association opened a conference to-day with 2000 medical men present. The opening ceremonies included Professor Harvey Smith’s presidential address and an impressive religious service. Professor Smith in his address stressed the fact that the economic organisation of medicine had not kept pace with its scientific iprogress. He pointed out that 30 per cent, of patients were treated free by physicians. Professor Smith advocated a system of health insurance as the only method by which competent medical service could be placed within the reach of all on a. satisfactory basis.
