The death has occurred of Mir William Frederick McLean Buckley, aged 69, for some time chairman of the Canteirbury Joekey Club and well known as a polo plaver and breeder (states a Press Association message from Christchurch.) The recently-published report of the Cheltenham l Dairy Company (Foilding) states that the, pig farm .conducted in conjunction with the company's operations showed! a profit of £555 7s lid on last, year 's working. Sighs were audible at the Rotary Club dinner at Hamilton the other day when the president announced that four lengthy address©?? were to be given respectively by Mr F. H. Clrppham on “Local Politics.” Mr J. Prentice on “Insurance,” the Rev. H. G. Gilbert on “Motor Accidents,” mid Mr C. L. Mac Diarmid on “Noise.” To shorten the time, the president decreed that all the speeches should ba delivered simultaneously, and! the effect- caused great amusement. In the vocal battle Mr. Prentice appeared to be the winner.
