PAKURANGA HUNT MEETING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 21. Paddon was scratched at 9 o’clock this morning for the Jellicoe Handicap on Saturday (Pakuranga 4 Hunt meeting at Ellerslie). HAWER.A TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited.”) The weather fine and tracks in good order were the conditions prevailing this morning when training operations commenced at the Hawera course. All the local horses engaged at the hunt meeting oil Saturday week were out exercising. Both plough and trial grass tracks were open and afforded capital going. Tentcall and Calamine (plough) sprinted three furlongs in 40-*sec. Homewood, alone, strode over the same distance, going pleasingly in dlfsee. The three-year-olds Whirl and Biflex went one© round at three-quarter pace. Kiosk, Prince Desmond and Green Linnet finished abreast over three furlongs on the grass in 40 1-5 sec, time that could have been improved on. Son o’ Mine’s task was a couple of rounds at steeplechase pace. Coalbag went once round the sand track at half-pace and came home the last two furlongs of the second lap smartly. .Joyspear, Royal Acre and Pikimai were allotted easy tasks. Bright Glow and Silvermine did their work on the plough, trotting once round and running the last six furlongs of the second circuit in 1.26 under a pull. Gowanlea. finished a shade in front of Banbridge over half-a-mile on the grass in 54 l-ssec. Bonogne went over a similar distance on the: same track in oosec by himself. Mendip finished strongly over five furlongs accomplished in 1.7 3-5 on the grass. _ | Mt. Shannon was a long neck in front of Gasnapper over five, furlongs run in 1.8 on the grass. The Warden, after doing a round of pace, worked on the plough and came home smartly over three furlongs in 41 3-ssec. Double Red did half-pace work. Gasfiekl and the Acre—Marsuma gelding were relegated to- similar work. A number of two-year-okls were out at regular exercise. Maidos (Grindlay) and Coper (Cook) went over five of the big fences, giving a good exhibition.
