FATAL QUARREL

M I DNIGHT DRAMA IN FEAT A dramatic story of a midnight quarrel that ended in tragedy was disclosed at Marylebone Police Court, when .Leslie Turkington (27), a free-lance’ journalist of Sutherland Avenue. Alania Vale appeared, charged with the murder of Hilda Harrison or Keith. A statement which Turkington was alleged to have made to Detective Inspector Yan dell was read by Air Vincent Evans, who appeared for the Director of Public Prosecutions'. In this statement Turkington tsaid he made the woman’s acquaintance five years ago, on the night he was to have sailed, tor Canada'. He lived with her, and on the night of the tragedy, on reaching home at midnight, he found her with a strange man. I put inv hands through the slats of the bunds and pressed firmly downwardly against the window pane for about five seconds, when I heard a thud and a faint moan.” , , ~ , On reaching the porch, he found that the moaning came from the basement, and in the moonlight saw her lying in the area. He got her up from the area by hugging her to him. On reaching tlm entrance hall he collapsed with Harrison on too of him. Air Evans said that the medical evidence went to show that the woman’s injuries could not he accounted for entirely bv the fall into the area: some; of them must have been received during the quarrel. A remand was ordered.
