VALUELESS CHEQUES
GAOL FOR UTTERING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 7. Faced with many debts and his wife in ill health, Angus Gordon Foster, aged 36, a salesman, took the course oF getting- money by issuing valueless cheques. He was arrested, on board the Tahiti at Wellington and to-day appeared before Mr. El. D. Mosley. S M., when he pleaded guilty to four charges of false pretences. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
