HAWERA SCOTTISH SOCIETY

THE MONTHLY SOCIAL. RATE A STAGES PROGRAMME, Tlie programme for the usual monthly social of the flawera Scottish Society, field last night in St. Mary’s Hall, was in the hands of the Patea Society, and they brought up a company- of artists who delighted the large audience that completely filled the hall. All the items weie given a very cordial reception. Chief .1. E. Campbell briefly introduced the tier formers, and with him were associated -Chief ,J. Kettles, of Patea and Chieftain D. McCormick, of llawera.

The numbers were as follow:—Songs bv Mrs Hamel. Miss 1 Marion Hamer ton, Alias Beer. Airs Alc-Donald', Miss Sutherland. Marster S. Pauling, Mr Naismith and Air Hook •. voc-al duets bv Alisses A. Kettles and C. Reid ami by Air and Airs Hook; recitations by Master Leslie Pauling and Airs Head ; pipe selections by Pipers Clarkson and AlcLeodt; part songs bv the Patea Scottish Choir.

The programme concluded with a very amusing farce. ‘‘The Uninvited Guest,” in which the characters wore efficiently taken by Airs Illingworth, Aliss Hazel Sutherland, Aliss Hazel Forbes, Aliss Alice Kettles, and Air George Kettles. 'Chief Campbell expressed hearty appreciation of the action of the Patea Society- in providing such an’excellent programme, one of the besl they had heard) and one that nvas heartily enjoyed and appreciated by all. Chief Kettles 1 expressed his pleasure at being present and. said that his party were always glad and pleased to help Flawera. He added that Patea always appreciated a trip to llawera, and there had always been the friendliest relations between the two societies.

After the customary singing of “ Auld Lang Syne,’ ’ supper was served and dancing enjoyed to music played by Afr Pickering’s orchestra.
