PETROL DOWN AGAIN
BACK TO OLD PRICES EFFECTIVE FROM THIS MORNING From this morning the price of petrol in Hawera has been reduced by 4d per gallon, and is now back to the old ruling rates. How long the reduction' will remain in force is uncertain, but local resellers have an agreeemnt with wholesalers to receive 12 hours’ notice of* an increase in the wholesale price. In the event of an increase being announced by the wholesalers, the extra 4d per gallon will probably be reimposed at short notice to the public. PUBLIC MEETING TO-NIGHT. Attention is particularly drawn to an advertisement appearing on page 1 of this issue in which the South Taranaki Automobile Association gives notice of a public meeting to be held in the Borough Council Chambers at S o ’clock to-night to consider the petrol tax and other motor taxation proposals. Unfortunately the advertisement which appeared in our issue yesterday was incorrect and we desire to make it clearly understood by all motorists that the meeting will be held this (Thursday) evening. In view of the importance of the matters to be discussed, the association urges every motorist to attend. Non-members of the association arc specially invited to be present, and to take part in the discussions.
